ROUND 5 THUNDERSPORTS

We had a big preparation on the car for the thundersports round in Adelaide as we wanted to have a back to back win.
It took 3 days for the race car to arrive and 2 and a half hours for me to travel by plane, I arrived about 9.30pm went straight to the motel went to bed as we had an early start in the morning. Friday was a practice day with 4 x 20 minute practices throughout the day. Our times were fairly slow as we didn't know the track and also we were using very old slicks.
Adelaide International raceway hadn't been raced on for about 18 years so the surface was somewhat uneven and a challenge to race on.

Saturday saw us have a practice in the morning and a 25 minute qualify session in the afternoon. For our qualify we put new slicks on and subsequently brought our times down by 2.5 seconds a lap, this qualified us fastest out of 16 cars.
Race day was on Sunday.

Race 1 ( 5 laps ) saw me on poll position with the Mineetii along side, I had wheel spin off the start that saw the Mineetii leap away though on the second lap I regained the lead to win the race by 4 seconds from the new prototype West car from America.

Race 2 ( 8 laps ) this had the controversial reverse grid format, with the faster cars being penalised in time. We had a flying start and rounded up about 9 cars by the 5th lap. To my absolute amazement one of the slower cars ( 6 seconds a lap slower to be exact ) decided he could block and hold me out through the fastest part of the track, I tried a number of times to get through. He then moved and showed a race line which I took, once I was passed his pillar he decided to rub guards at about 140+ k's. Not satisfied enough with that he rammed the rear tyre of my car sending me into the air and spinning somewhere between 3 - 6 times in front of the other cars. Long story short race 2 over along with the rest of the weekend.
As I am writing this the car is still in transit from Adelaide so the damage is yet to be diagnosed.
